Women's Tennis Travels to Stevenson for Match on Saturday

THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata women's tennis team (1-1) is back in action on Saturday afternoon when they visit Stevenson University at 1:00 pm. Immaculata enters Saturday's match after defeating Lancaster Bible 5-2 in their last match on September 24th.
  • Stevenson (1-2) enter Saturday's match having dropped their last match to Penn State Harrisburg 5-2 on September 14th.  Stevenson defeated Trinity Washington 7-0 in their opener and lost to Catholic University 6-3.
 
THE SERIES
  • Immaculata and Stevenson are meeting for the first time in women's tennis.
 
MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Pamela Kontaras is 1-1 on the season in first singles. Kontaras won her match against Lancaster Bible in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. She and her doubles partner Delaney Brown won their first doubles match 6-2.
  • Delaney Brown is 2-0 this year at second doubles. After a straight set win her first match vs Wilkes, Brown the former Atlantic East Rookie of the Year in 2022-23 won her second singles match vs Lancaster Bible in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
  • Playing third singles, freshmen Sophia Brown has lost both her matches in tie breakers. She lost in the LBC match 2-6, 6-2, 3-6.
  • Freshman Hailey Elwell is 2-0 to begin her college career at fifth singles. She won her match against LBC in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.  Elwell and her doubles partner Elizabeth Madsen won their third double match vs LBC 6-3.
 
SCOUTING STEVENSON
  • Sophomore Shelby Carter is 1-2 on the season in first singles. She lost her match vs Catholic in straight sets 2-6, 5-7. She and her doubles partner Ariella Stepleman are 3-0 in first doubles.
  • Graduate Student Ariella Stepleman is 3-0 in second doubles winning her last match vs Catholic in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
  • Sophomore Kara Chwang is 1-2 at third singles. She lost her match vs Catholic in straight sets 1-6, 1-6. She is 1-2 at second double with partner Sofia McCoy and Mackenzie Dickle.
  • Junior Mackenzie Dickle is 1-2 at fourth singles. She lost her match vs Catholic 3-6, 2-6.
 
WEEKLY HONORS
  • Pamela Kontaras was named Atlantic East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Kontaras won her singles match playing first singles vs Lancaster Bible on September 24th in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Kontaras won her doubles match with doubles partner Delaney Brown playing first doubles 6-2, as Immaculata defeated Lancaster Bible 5-2.
