Box Score ASTON, Pa. – Keith Farmer earned a double-double as the Immaculata men's basketball dropped their contest against Neumann in a final-minute thriller on Monday night,
The match began in close fashion as the score stood at 5-4 three minutes into the contest. The Mighty Macs then went on a nine-point run to claim a 14-4 lead just six minutes in.
Keith Farmer dropped seven consecutive points over the stretch to lead the Macs. The Knights began to narrow the gap, cutting the Macs' lead to 18-13 with nine minutes left in the quarter.
Over the next four minutes, the Mighty Macs responded in kind, going on an 8-0 run to regain a strong lead at 26-13. The Macs, however, were only held to two points over the final five minutes of the quarter as the Knights went on an 8-2 rally with the score standing at 28-21 in favor of the Macs at the half.
The Mighty Macs outshot the Knights on the first half, going 12-for-37 (32.4%) from the field versus the Knight's 6-for-25 (24.0%). Farmer led the Macs in scoring on the half with 13 points scored while adding a team-leading five rebounds.
Tyler Tillery also contributed with seven points, four rebounds, and one block.
The Knights owned the first ten minutes of the second half, outscoring the Macs 23-10 on the stretch. The Knights took the lead from the Macs on a layup to make the score 37-36 before continuing their rally to own a six-point lead at 44-38. At this point, the Mighty Macs began to respond, cutting into the Knights' lead before a three-pointer from
Gregory Vlassopoulos tied the game at 48-48 with seven minutes remaining.
The Macs, however, would not stand unopposed as the Knights outscored then 10-4 over the next four minutes, regaining a six-point lead. Down heading into the final few minutes of the game, the Macs attempted to rally, hitting free throws and cutting the Knight's lead to 60-59 on a three-pointer from
Dylan Crews. With one minute remaining, the Knights shut down the Macs' offense while adding two free throws to their lead as the final buzzer rang in a 62-59 decision in favor of the Knights.
Keith Farmer recorded a double-double on the night, scoring 15 points while adding a team-leading 10 rebounds on the night.
Dylan Crews, meanwhile, led the Macs with 16 points scored and added two steals while
Tyler Tillery recorded 14 points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Gwynedd Mercy in an 8:00 P.M. contest.
