Women's Tennis Set for Atlantic East Semifinal Battle vs Cabrini

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis is finalizing its preparations to defend its 2019 Atlantic East Tournament title when the Tournament begins on Tuesday afternoon with the Macs semifinal battle vs. Cabrini beginning at 4 p.m.

With a victory on Tuesday afternoon, Immaculata will return to the Atlantic East Championship match for the third time in as many Tournament appearances following the cancellation of the Tournament a season ago as a result of the onset of the global pandemic.

Immaculata (4-1, 3-0 Atlantic East) enters play on Tuesday afternoon riding a four-match winning streak, which includes a 9-0 victory over Cabrini earlier in the month of April. Immaculata began its season on Sunday, March 21, with a tightly contested road loss at the hands of Moravian before bouncing back to defeat Lancaster Bible by an 8-1 final on March 27. Immaculata followed this up with an 8-1 win over Marywood on April 7 to open Atlantic East play. This 8-1 victory was also the last time that the Macs would drop a flight as the team followed this up with 9-0 victories over Cabrini and Neumann on April 17 and 22, respectively.

Senior Caleigh Masterman has enjoyed another stellar senior year playing to a perfect 5-0 record in first singles action while also going 4-1 in first doubles action alongside fellow senior Elizabeth Lipscomb. For Degnan, she has also enjoyed a solid sophomore season, which has seen her play to a record of 3-2 in third singles, entering the Atlantic East Tournament riding a two-match winning streak.

In third doubles, juniors Jessica Dougherty and Kelly O'Brien have combined to play to a record of 4-1 from this position on the year. Dougherty has played in the fifth singles spot for much of the year for Immaculata playing to a record of 4-1 on the year, while O'Brien has played to a mark of 3-1 in the sixth singles spot for Immaculata.
