Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa.-The Immaculata women's tennis team opened its season on the road on Sunday afternoon against regional foe and perennial-power Moravian. Immaculata battled throughout the afternoon but fell to its hosts by a final of 8-1.
In doubles action,
Caleigh Masterman and
Elizabeth Lipscomb teamed in the first doubles spot falling to Moravian by a final of 8-0 while
Morgan Jacob and
Annamarie Degnan played second doubles, dropping their match by a final of 8-6.
Kelly O'Brien and
Jessica Dougherty teamed up for third doubles action for the Mighty Macs, dropping their match by a final of 8-7 (9-7), which enabled the host Greyhounds to get out to an early 3-0 lead.
In singles play, Masterman captured her first singles match 6-4, 6-3 for the Macs lone victory of the afternoon, which made the score 3-1. Jacob fell in her second singles match by a final of 6-0, 6-2 while Degnan fell in third singles 6-1, 6-2. Lipscomb battled throughout her match but fell by finals of 6-4, 7-5 while Dougherty and O'Brien dropped their fifth and sixth singles matches by 7-5, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-2 finals, respectively.
Immaculata will return to action on Saturday afternoon at Lancaster Bible in its final non-conference match of the year before opening Atlantic East play in April.
