IMMACULATA, Pa. – After a one-game season in the spring of 2021, the Immaculata men's basketball team is set to return to Alumnae Hall as they begin their 2021-22 campaign to take the Atlantic East Conference Championship title.
immaculata will open its season on Friday, November 5
th as they host Keystone College in Alumnae Hall at 7:00 P.M. The Mighty Macs will then be on the road for their next three matches as they face Albright, Washington (Md.) and Haverford beginning on Sunday the 7
th.
"It means a lot that we are able to get back to competing," said head coach
Jayson Hyman. "The team is excited to be on the court. We are enjoying the process of getting better day by day and being involved with the grind that comes with a season."
In the shortened 2021 spring season, the Mighty Macs lost their sole match against Gwynedd Mercy 87-64. In 2019-20 the Macs owned a 10-17 record (4-8 AEC) and earned a ticket to the Atlantic East Semifinals.
Returning to the Mighty Macs this season is senior
Brandon McCullough. McCullough earned his 1,000
th career point in 2019-20 and currently stands at 1,056 points on his career while leading the Macs on and off the court.
"Brandon's potential continues to grow and he will impact the game for us in many ways this season," explained Hyman. "As a leader he will continue to bring the young guys along and keep us composed. He is on pace to break a few records to cap off his career so that will be exciting to watch."
McCullough is joined by a seasoned crew of experienced leaders on the Mighty Macs, including some new veteran additions.
"
Asa Kitchen, is also going to play a big role going into his fifth year," detailed Hyman. "I believe he will put together a great season for us and impact the team as a leader as well.
Tyler Tillery also will be an impactful presence out of our returners. After a solid freshman season, we expect Tyler to continue to grow and develop and be a force for us. Dave Cade, who has been a senior leader, will make an impact as well. His work ethic is unmatched and makes our young guys better each day. We are also expecting impacts from
Steven Dao and
Murad Preston out of our returners. They have improved since freshman year and we are excited to see the improvement show on the court. We also have some new additions to the team who will be joining us
Keith Farmer, Tim Shultice and Greg Vlassopoulos. They come in as sophomores and will play big roles for us this season."

Reginald Tinsley round out the Mighty Macs as the current freshman class.
"I am excited for our freshman and sophomore classes this year," said Hyman. "We're giving them all of the tools they need to develop and they are constantly in the gym working hard. I feel pretty good about our future with these guys."
"Coming into this season, we just want to keep improving. I expect us to get better every game and build our chemistry. We are relevantly a young team, our potential is high and it will be fun to watch this team grow", concluded Hyman.
