MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches in its season-opener at Penn St. Harrisburg Saturday afternoon en route to a 6-3 victory over the Nittany Lions. The Mighty Macs split the six singles matches with the Nittany Lions, including wins from
Caleigh Masterman,
Morgan Jacob and
Elizabeth Lipscomb.
DOUBLES RESULTS
-Masterman and Jacob returned to their dominance of last season at the first doubles position, taking the match 8-0.
-
Susan Callahan and
Caitlin Savage put together a solid match at the second doubles slot with an 8-3 victory.
-Lipscomb and
Catherine Zirolli also secured an 8-3 win at third doubles.
SINGLES RESULTS
-Masterman, the reigning conference rookie of the year, lived up to the billing with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at first singles.
-Jacob faced a tough matchup at the fourth position, but came away with a 6-4, 7-5 triumph.
-Lipscomb needed three sets to arrive at a result at fifth singles and ultimately delivered a 6-3, 1-6 (11-9) victory.
