SCRANTON, Pa. – Immaculata University softball finished the regular season with a split at Marywood University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play. The Mighty Macs won the opener, 5-3, and fell in game two, 3-2.

Immaculata (22-14, 17-5 CSAC) claimed the third seed in the CSAC Tournament and will host No. 6-seed Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday, May 3, at 4 p.m. at the IU Softball Field.

In game one, Immaculata scored in the top of the first as
Emily Mesey had a two-out single down the left field line to score
Abigail Carter, who singled to lead off the inning.

Marywood (19-14, 19-3 CSAC) answered in the bottom half of the first with one run to tie the game on a double to left field.
Â
The Mighty Macs scored two unearned runs, all with two outs, in the top half of the third. Mesey reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and scored on
Michaela Petito reaching on an error.
Meghan Kugler then reached base on an error, and
Sydney Sturgill also reached on an error to load the bases.
Moriah Hunter then singled down the left field line to score Petito for Immaculata's third run and a 3-1 lead.

However, the Immaculata lead was short-lived as Brooke Labs hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third to once again tie the game at 3-3.

Annemarie Bartow gave the Mighty Macs a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth as she homered to center field, and Immaculata added one more run in the top of the sixth as
Jessica Bormann walked and scored on
Ashley Rey's double down the left field line.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, the Pacers loaded the bases with a single and two walks. The Mighty Macs got out of the inning as the next back hit into a fielder's choice and got the runner at third out.

Moriah Hunter was 3-for-4 with one RBI,
Emily Mesey was 2-for-4 with one RBI, and
Abigail Carter went 2-for-5 in the opener.

Jessica Bormann got her 11th win in the circle allowing three runs on seven hits. She walked four and struck out two along the way.

In the second game, Immaculata got on the scoreboard in the first inning as Carter scored on a wild pitch after singling to the pitcher.

Marywood came back in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at 1-1, and it would remain tied until the fourth inning.

The Mighty Macs got singles from Mesey and Kugler to get runners on the corners, and Hunter singled to the shortstop to score Mesey from third.

Immaculata maintained the lead until the bottom of the fifth when Marywood got two runners on and a double tied the game at 2-2.

In the bottom of the sixth, Marywood took the lead as Sam Reid doubled down the right field line to get Pacers at second and third. Hanna Docalovich then hit a sac fly to right field, allowing the runners to move as Pacers took a 3-2 lead.

Mesey and Hunter each had two hits in the second game.

Petito took the loss going six innings. She allowed nine hits, three runs, walked one and struck out one.
