IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University softball punched its ticket to its ninth-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship by sweeping Notre Dame of Maryland University Friday afternoon on Senior Day, 8-0 and 6-0. The win in game one also marked the 100th win at Immaculata for head coach
Mike Wallace.

Immaculata currently sits in third in the CSAC standings with a 16-4 league mark and 21-13 overall record.

The Mighty Macs scored in each of the first four innings of game way to build the 8-0 lead.
Â
Sydney Sturgill led the way going 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.
Abigail Carter,
Ashley Rey and
Emily Mesey all had two hits, and Rey had a team-best three RBIs.

Jessica Bormann picked up her 10th win in the circle and fifth shutout of the year. She allowed just three hits, one walk, and struck out five during five innings.

The Mighty Macs loaded the bases in the second inning, and Rey double down the left field line scored all three runners to extend the lead to 4-0.

In the third inning, Sturgill doubled into center field scoring Mesey, who singled to lead off the inning. Sturgill later scored on Carter's single to the shortstop making it 6-0.

Immaculata capped its scoring with two more runs in the fourth as Rey doubled to start the inning, and Mesey doubled to score Rey. Mesey then came home following singles from
Meghan Kugler and Sturgill.

After two scoreless innings, the Mighty Macs got on the scoreboard in the third inning of the nightcap, and scored in the next three innings as well for a 6-0 win.

In the bottom of the third, Carter singled, stole second and scored on an error by the pitcher.

The Mighty Macs began the fourth inning with a double from Bartow, and Bartow scored the second run of the game as
Michaela Petito had a RBI single through the left side.

Immaculata scored two runs in the fifth as
LeighAnn Brocious tripled down the left field line plating Carter, and Rey had a grounder to the short stop that allowed Brocious to score for a 4-0 lead.

The final two runs of the game for the Mighty Macs reached base on an error by the Gators and scored on errors.

Petito got the shutout win tossing seven innings with just five hits allowed and struck out three Gators.

Immaculata plays at Marywood tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the final games of the regular season. Both teams are playing for byes and potential hosting rights in the CSAC Tournament.
