IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University's softball team moved to 6-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play with its sweep of Keystone College, 9-6 and 13-1, on Sunday afternoon at the IU Softball Field.

Emily Mesey,
Meghan Kugler and
Jessica Bormann all collected four hits during the afternoon for the Mighty Macs, while Kugler and
Michaela Petito led the team with three RBIs each. Bormann and Petito each picked up wins in the circle tossing complete games.

The first game was up for grabs until Immaculata scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend its lead on Keystone to 9-5.
Ashley Rey started the inning for the Mighty Macs with a single, and Mesey singled with one out to get runners at first and second. The runners advanced on Petito's ground ball, and
Victoria Post delivered a two-out single that scored both runners.

Keystone (3-9, 0-4 CSAC) hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh, but that was all the scoring the Giants could produce as the Mighty Macs held on the for 9-6 win.

Immaculata (9-7, 6-0 CSAC) started the game with four runs in the bottom of the first inning all with two outs. Rey singled and
Annemarie Bartow was hit by a pitch. Mesey then singled through the right side to score Rey, and Petito followed with a three-run home run.

Keystone chipped away with one run in the top of the second, but Immaculata scored one run in the bottom half of the inning to keep a four-run lead. Bormann had a sacrifice fly to score
Moriah Hunter for the Mighty Macs' run.

The Giants then tied the game in the top of the third as they hit two two-run homers.

The tied game didn't last long as the Mighty Macs came back in the bottom of the third with two runs. Immaculata loaded the bases with a Mesey walk, Petito double, and Post hit by pitch. Kugler then delivered a two-RBI double into right center scoring Mesey and Petito for a 7-5 IU lead.

Mesey finished game one 3-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI. Rey, Petito, Kugler and Hunter all went 2-for-4. Petito had three RBIs and Kugler drove in two runs.

Bormann tossed all seven innings in the win. She allowed six runs on 10 hits, while striking out three and walking one.

A nine-run second inning by the Mighty Macs was the difference in game two.

Immaculata pushed one run across in the first inning as
Abigail Carter singled, and Carter then scored on Rey's single through the right side.

The Mighty Macs' first five batters all reached base to start the second inning as they produced eight hits in the inning.
Kayla Sponsel and Kugler each singled to begin the inning.
Sydney Sturgill then doubled into center field to plate Sponsel. Carter then singled into right field scoring both Kugler and Sturgill. Carter advanced to third on Bormann's single, and then they did a double-steal as Carter took home for a 5-0 lead.

Immaculata's next five runs all came with two outs. Mesey had a RBI single which scored Bormann, and Petito reached on an error. Sponsel singled into center field to score Mesey, and Kugler's RBI single scored Petito. Sponsel then scored on a passed ball, and Kugler scored on an error as Sturgill reached base to the 10-0 lead.

Keystone got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth with a solo homer, but Immaculata added three more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Sponsel reached on an error, and
Laura DiLucia came in to pinch run. Carter hit a double into center field to get runners at second and third for the Mighty Macs. DiLucia scored on Bormann's RBI single, and the bases were loaded following
Desiree Dinko's walk. Bartow then doubled into left field plating both Carter and Bormann for the final 13-1 margin.

Carter, Bormann and Bartow each were 3-for-4, and Carter and Bartow both had two RBIs. Sponsel and Kugler each had two hits in the game.

Petito got the win in the circle going all five innings. She gave up just four hits and one run, and she struck out four with no walks.

Immaculata is scheduled to host King's on Tuesday, April 4, at 3 p.m. in non-conference play.
