IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University softball picked up the sweep against Rosemont College Tuesday afternoon shutting the Ravens out in both Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games. The Mighty Macs won the opener, 7-0, and picked up an 8-0 win in five innings during game two.

Abigail Carter was a perfect 7-for-7 with four runs scored and three RBIs in the two games.
Michaela Petito was 3-for-6 with one double and one triple, while scoring two runs and driving in one run.
Ashley Rey, who was 2-for-7 had a team-best four RBIs.

The Mighty Macs (15-13, 10-4 CSAC) scored in four of the six innings they batted in the opener beginning with one run in the first. Carter singled to begin the inning and scored on Rey's ground out.

Immaculata started a two-run second inning with
Emily Mesey doubling into left center and scoring on
Meghan Kugler's single down the left field line. Kugler scored later in the inning as Carter singled up the middle.

The Mighty Macs made it a 4-0 lead when Carter singled and scored on Rey's RBI single that was a hard-hit liner towards the third baseman in the bottom of the fourth.

Jessica Bormann had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning as she had struck out seven Ravens during the first four innings. However, Rosemont had two hits in the inning to break up the no-hit bid.

The Mighty Macs had their biggest inning in the fifth with three runs on three hits and took advance of two Rosemont errors. Mesey doubled down the left field line to lead off, and scored as Petito tripled also down the left line. Petito than scored on an error as Kugler reached base, and Kugler scored the seventh run on a wild pitch.

Carter finished with four hits, while Mesey had two hits in the game.

Bormann tossed all seven inning allowing three hits in the shutout win. She finished with eight strikeout.

In the nightcap, Immaculata scored a pair of runs in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings.

Carter singled to lead off the Mighty Macs' half of the first inning, and Rey followed with a two-run homer to left field.
Â
Kayla Sponsel doubled to begin the second inning, and she scored on
Tori Fortuna's sacrifice bunt.
Sydney Sturgill, who had reached on an error, scored the second run of the inning on Carter's single into left field for a 4-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Carter had another RBI single to score Sturgill, and Bartow hit a RBI doubles down the right field line to build a 6-0 Immaculata lead.

The game ended in the bottom of the fifth after
Victoria Post hit a two-run homer as Petito had led off the inning with a double.

Carter collected three hits in game two, and Petito also had a multi-hit game with two.
Â
Petito got her eighth win of the season in the circle pitching five innings. She allowed just two hits while striking out six batters.

Immaculata travels to Gwynedd Mercy on Friday, April 21, at 3 p.m.
