COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Immaculata softball wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule Monday afternoon with a split on the road against Ursinus. After falling in the opener, 8-1, the Mighty Macs came back to win the second game, 11-3, in six innings.

Emily Mesey,
Michaela Petito and
Kayla Sponsel all picked up two hits in the nightcap, and Petito led the team with four RBIs while Sponsel drove in three Immaculata runners.

The Mighty Macs (12-10) started the scoring early with four runs in the first inning all with two outs.
Ashley Rey singled and
Annemarie Bartow followed with a walk. Both runners than advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. Mesey then had the first of her four RBIs as she singled through the left side to score Rey. Bartow then touched home plate on Petito's single down the left field line. Immaculata loaded the bases when
Sydney Sturgill walked, and Sponsel singled to score both Mesey and Petito for the 4-0 lead.

Immaculata continued to add to its lead in the top of the second as
Abigail Carter reached on an error, and then Rey and Bartow each walked to load the bases. Petito then delivered a two-out triple to plate all lead runners and push the Mighty Macs' lead to 7-0.

Ursinus (9-15) got two runs back in the bottom of the second to trail 7-2, and added one more run in the third for a 7-3 game.

After two scoreless innings, the Mighty Macs added four more runs in the top of the sixth. Carter singled and Rey walked for Bartow to double into right center as both runners scored. Mesey followed with a walk and Petito reached on an error to load the bases once again. Sturgill then earned a walk as Bartow scored, and Sponsel singled to left field as Mesey scored the 11th run for Immaculata.

The Bears got two runners on base in the bottom of the sixth but could not drive them home, and the game was cut short in six innings.

Jessica Bormann started and pitched four innings allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out two to earn the win. Petito tossed two innings allowing four hits. Â

In the opener, Bartow homered to left center in the second inning cutting Ursinus' lead to 3-1 to provide the Mighty Macs' offense.

Nicole Kowalski started and took the loss in the circle. She tossed five innings allowing eight runs on 13 hits.
Desiree Dinko pitched one inning with one hit.
