MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Immaculata men's basketball dropped its opening contest in the Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Tournament to the host Nittany Lions, 85-60, Saturday afternoon.
Mike Piekarski led Immaculata (1-1) with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Brandon McCullough added nine points and three steals, and
Jordan Ambrose chipped in eight points and seven rebounds.

Penn State Harrisburg (2-0) had four players reach double figures in scoring. Gbolahan Alliyu led the way with 18 points and 18 rebounds. Anthony Bennett Jr. came off the bench to score 14 points and pull down eight rebounds.
KEY MOMENTS:
- Immaculata started the game hitting three-straight three-point baskets. McCullough hit two three's and Piekarski sunk the other lead as the Mighty Macs led 9-6 at the 16:13 mark.
Matt Krewson and Ambrose then got into the action with three's as five of Immaculata's first six buckets were from beyond the arc. The Mighty Macs ended up putting together a 14-0 run that saw them out to a 23-9 lead with 12:23 to play in the first half. Immaculata still held a double-figure lead (31-20) with 7:31 remaining when Penn State Harrisburg made a run. The Nittany Lions outscored the Mighty Macs 19-2 over a seven-minute span that allowed the hosts to gain a 39-33 lead. Piekarski scored four points during the closing minute bringing the Mighty Macs within two at halftime, 39-37.
- Penn State Harrisburg began to put the contest out of reach for Immaculata as the Nittany Lions had a 23-0 spurt to begin the second half, pushing their lead against the Mighty Macs to 62-37 with 11:27 remaining in the game. The Mighty Macs scored their first points of the second half on
Jeffrey Powell-Young's layup at the 10:58 mark. Powell-Young started a 7-0 run for Immaculata to get the deficit to 62-44 with 9:25 to play. However, the Mighty Macs couldn't hold the Nittany Lions to any long stretches without scoring as Penn State Harrisburg went on for the 85-60 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Immaculata was 21-for-76 (.276) from the field, and 10 of 18 (.556) from three-point range. The Mighty Macs were 8-for-13 (.615) at the line.
- Penn State Harrisburg was 51.5 percent (35-68) from the field, but struggled at the line going just 9 of 21 (.429).

Chris Lomax came off the bench and gave the Mighty Macs six points and two assists.
Chris Wynne came in to score four points and made three steals. Powell-Young finished with five points, two steals and two rebounds.
