CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa.- The Immaculata men's basketball team (7-8, 5-3 CSAC) travelled to Clarks Summit (1-14, 0-8 CSAC) for a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest on Saturday afternoon, and with the score deadlocked at 33-33 at halftime, the Mighty Macs blew the game open by outscoring the Defenders 56-32 after the break en route to an 89-65 victory.

The Mighty Macs shot 22-for-38 (57.9%) from the field after halftime and knocked down seven of their 15 three point attempts as they scored a season-high 56 points in the period.

Senior
Matt Simon came off the bench and led the team with 20 points, including six three-pointers, and tied junior
Eric Pittman Jr. with a team-high seven rebounds. Pittman Jr. had 13 and senior
Roy Ferrell Jr. was the other player in double figures with 11. There were 15 different Mighty Macs who scored on the day.

The Mighty Macs struggled at the start and trailed 9-2 just five minutes into the contest, but the Macs righted the ship and took their first lead on a free throw by junior
Will Chapman to make it 15-14 midway through the period.

The Macs twice had the lead as large as four, but Simon had to hit a three just before halftime to send the game to the intermission tied at 33. The bench played a huge role in the first half as they accounted for 23 of the 33 points, led by 11 from Simon and five by sophomore
Morgan Bailey.

After halftime, the Macs scored seven straight and never looked back. Freshman
Jordan Ambrose hit a three, followed by four straight by Pittman Jr. to make it 40-33, forcing a timeout by Clarks Summit.

The Mighty Macs capped a 17-3 run to open the half on back-to-back lay-ups by Ambrose and Ferrell Jr. to make it 50-36 with 15 minutes remaining. The lead continued to grow as the period progressed as sophomore
Jimmy Markham drilled a three-pointer soon after senior Mike Sturdivant Jr. did the same to put the Macs up by 18 at 60-42.

Once the lead got over 20 points, the Mighty Macs were able to cruise the rest of the game and finish off the victory.

The Mighty Macs will host Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
