Women's Soccer Edged By Washington, 2-1

Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata women's soccer (1-6) welcomed the Washington College Shorewomen (4-2-1) to campus for a midweek battle as the Mighty Macs looked to build off their victory over the weekend. However, the Macs would ultimately fall in a hard-fought non-conference game by a final score of 2-1.

Neither team had any noticeable edge in possession during the scoreless first half as the ball seemed to stay in the middle of the field for the majority of the period. The Shorewomen generated three shots with one finding its way on goal only to be easily saved by IU goalie Allie Tracey. The Macs generated two chances of their own with one finding its way on net which was also easily corralled by the Washington's keeper.

The second half would be much of the same in the early going as no team ever took a true edge in possession. The Shorewomen would ultimately take a lead in the 57th minute off a penalty kick goal from Steph Scott.

The Mighty Macs would answer back in the 70th minute with a beautiful chip goal from Carly Mirarchi to even the score at 1-1. Immaculata's lead was short-lived as the Shorewomen pulled back ahead with a goal in the 73rd minute from Ariana Sabatino.

Tracey made six saves on the night to help keep the Macs in the game, and her counterpart Courtney Colbert ended the game with two saves.

The Shorewomen had 13 shots compared to four shots for the Mighty Macs.

Immaculata's next home game is Saturday, September 24th, as part of a triple-header at Draper Walsh stadium kicking off at 11 a.m. against the Neumann Knights.
