ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Immaculata softball split its final non-conference series of the season as it won game one against Eastern, 3-2, before dropping the nightcap, 8-5, to the Eagles.

The Mighty Macs (11-19) scored three runs right off the bat in game one as
Caitlin Brasier hit a three-run home run to left field.
Melissa Ejk, who walked, and
Annemarie Bartow, who doubled, both scored on the homer.

Starting pitcher
Meghan Kugler was able to pitch with the lead and gave up just single runs to Eastern in third and fourth innings. Kugler went six innings allowing five hits, just one earned run while striking out two.
Jessica Bormann came on for the seventh inning to get credit with the save after allowing just one hit.

Immaculata scored first in the second game as well with two runs in the top of the third. Ejk doubled and Bartow singled to get runners on the corners. The Mighty Macs then attempted a delayed double steal that allowed Ejk to score, and Bartow advanced to third on a throwing error. Brasier then doubled to score Bartow.

However, Eastern (12-24) came up with six runs on six hits in the bottom half of the third. The Eagles scored twice more in the fourth for an 8-2 lead.

The Mighty Macs battled back with one run in the fifth as two errors by the Eagles allowed both Bartow and Brasier to reach, and Bartow to score.

The seventh inning started out positive for Immaculata as Ejk doubled once again, and Bartow hit a two-run home run to cut Eastern's lead to 8-5. However, the Mighty Macs would be unable to complete the comeback.

Ejk was 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the second game. Bartow went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored, while Brasier went 2-for-5 with one RBI.

Brasier started and tossed the first three innings in the circle. She allowed eight hits, six runs, five earned and three strikeouts. Bormann pitched the final three innings giving up two runs on two hits.

Immaculata is scheduled for a home CSAC contest tomorrow against Cedar Crest at the IU Softball Field at 3 p.m.
