IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata softball was swept by Neumann on Tuesday afternoon in a pair of five-inning games, 12-1 and 14-0, in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
 
The Mighty Macs slip to 8-18 overall and 7-7 in CSAC play. Neumann stays perfect in the league at 14-0 and 17-11 overall.
 
Melissa Ejk was 4-for-6 (.667), while Annemarie Bartow went 3-for-6 with one RBI. Bartow's second hit of the afternoon, a blooper over the second baseman's head, gave the sophomore her 100th hit of her career. Lauren Penn was the only other Mighty Macs with multiple hits as she was 2-for-5 with one run scored.
 
In the opener, Immaculata pitcher Caitlin Brasier retired the first six Neumann batters to make quick work in the first and second innings.
 
In the third inning, Brasier allowed a home run, and Neumann scored again with two outs. The Knights then had a big fourth inning scoring six runs on six hits and two Immaculata errors. Neumann then added four more runs in the fifth as the Knights had back-to-back two-RBI doubles.
 
Immaculata scored with two outs in the bottom of the fifth as Penn singled on the left side, Ejk singled into left field and then Penn scored on Bartow's single thru the left side.
 
Brasier lasted three innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits and two strikeouts. Meghan Kugler came in and toss the final two inning, allowing five hits, five runs, four earned, and she struck out two.
 
Neumann scored in all five innings of the nightcap, but had a seven-run third inning to seal the win.
 
Jessica Bormann started and pitched the first three innings for the Mighty Macs, allowing 14 hits and 12 runs. Becca Reifer went the final two innings giving up two hits, two runs and one strikeout.
 
Immaculata hosts Cairn on Saturday at 1 p.m.
