Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – Immaculata University closed out its spring break trip to Florida Wednesday afternoon with a pair of losses. The Mighty Macs dropped the first game, 11-3, to Otterbein, and fell in the nightcap to Catholic University of America, 3-0.
Otterbein (8-0) scored one run in the first and two more in the second for an early 3-0 lead on Immaculata.
The Mighty Macs (1-5) got two runs back in the bottom of the third as
Melissa Ejk hit a two-run home run that scored
Kelsey Collevechio, who had started the inning with a double.
The Cardinals plated four runs in the fifth, and put a four on the scoreboard again in the seventh.
Immaculata fought back in the bottom of the seventh as
Lauren Penn singled to lead off the inning. Otterbein then committed three errors that allowed Mighty Macs to reach base, and Penn to score the third run of the game. The Cardinals eventually got out of the inning with no more damage by the Macs.
The Mighty Macs had four hits in the game as Collevechio, Ejk,
Meghan Kugler and Penn each had one hit. Ejk had two RBIs, and
Madison Hendershott recorded one RBI.
Kugler took the loss in the circle as she tossed the first four and one-third innings. She gave up 10 hits, seven runs, five earned runs, and walked three batters.
Caitlin Brasier came in on relief and went the final two and two-thirds. She allowed six hits, four runs, all earned, and struck out one.
Immaculata is idle once it returns from Florida until Saturday, March 12, when it travels to King's at 1 p.m.
