RADNOR, Pa. – Immaculata softball opened the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) portion of its season Saturday falling in a doubleheader to Cabrini, 13-2 in five innings and 9-2.
 
In the opener, Cabrini scored five runs in the second inning, six in the third, and added two more runs in the fourth inning for an 11-0 lead.
 
Immaculata scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning for the game was called. Madison Hendershott started the inning with a single down the right field line, but was cut down as Kathleen Devaney reached on a fielder's choice. Caitlin Brasier then walked, and both runners advanced on Kelsey Collevechio's ground ball. Devaney and Brasier then scored as Melissa Ejk reached on an error.
 
Immaculata got just three hits in the opener as Annemarie Bartow, Hendershott and Devaney all singled.
 
Jessica Bormann started in the circle and went 2.1 innings. She allowed 11 hits, 10 runs, seven earned runs, and walked one. Brasier tossed the final 1.2 innings allowing three runs, all earned, on five hits, struck out one and walked one.
 
In the nightcap, Cabrini again had a five second inning as the Cavaliers plated five runs. Cabrini added one run in each the third and fifth, and two runs scored in the sixth.
 
Immaculata's two runs came in the fourth as the first fourth Mighty Macs to the plate all hit safely. Devaney started the inning with a single into left, and Collevechio followed with a double. Ejk then singled to the left side that allowed Devaney to score. Bartow then hit a RBI single into left field for Collevechio to score.
 
Hendershott was the other Immaculata player to get a hit in the second game.
 
Meghan Kugler went all six innings, and she gave up nine runs, eight earned, on 15 hits while striking out two.
 
Immaculata travels to Rosemont on Monday, March 21, at 5 p.m. for two more CSAC games.
