Box Score 2 WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Immaculata softball dropped a pair of games to King's on Saturday afternoon as the visiting Mighty Macs fell 13-5 and 8-0.
Melissa Ejk was 4-for-6,
Annemarie Bartow was 3-for-6 with two RBIs and one run scored, and
Jessica Bormann was 3-for-7 with one RBI and one run scored to lead the Mighty Macs in the doubleheader.
In the opener, Immaculata had a 5-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth when King's powered to a six-run fifth and five run sixth inning to close out the contest. The Mighty Macs had put one run on the board in the first, and two runs in each the fourth and fifth innings.
Bartow had a RBI double to score Bormann, who reached on a single, in the first.
King's scored two runs in the bottom of the first to lead, 2-1, until the Mighty Macs came to bat in the fourth.
Immaculata scored its first run of the fourth inning as
Paige Murphy drew a bases loaded walk, and Bormann followed with a single as the Mighty Macs retook the lead, 3-2.
Bartow led off the fifth inning with a solo home run to left field, and the Mighty Macs got a pair of doubles from
Meghan Kugler and
Kathleen Devaney to score their final run of the contest.
Bormann pitched the first five innings of the opener giving up 12 hits and allowing eight runs, only three earned. Kugler pitched the final 0.2 innings, giving up the last five runs on three hits.
In the nightcap, King's pushed one run across in the second, added two more in the fourth and ended the game with five runs in the fifth.
Ejk led the Mighty Macs with two hits in the game.
Caitlin Brasier went 4.2 innings in the circle for the Mighty Macs. She allowed 10 hits and eight runs, five earned runs.
Immaculata has its home opener on Tuesday, March 15, as the Mighty Macs host Wesley at 3 p.m.
