Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – Immaculata softball picked up its first win of the young 2016 season Tuesday morning as the Mighty Macs exploded for 20 runs in a 20-5 victory against Finlandia. The bats quieted in the second game of the day as Immaculata fell to Rose-Hulman, 10-3.
Immaculata started the game with five runs in the first against Finlandia on three hits, inlcuding doubles by
Annemarie Bartow and
Tabitha Mulholland. The Mighty Macs also walked three times in the inning.
Immaculata added five more runs in the second inning, highlighted by doubles from
Melissa Ejk and Mulholland.
The Mighty Macs scored two more runs in the fifth, before batting around in the seventh on their way to scoring eight runs.
Kelsey Collevechio was 5-for-6 for the game. Ejk went 3-for-4 with two doubles and walked twice. Bartow had a monster day as she went 4-for-5 with three doubles and a home run.
Meghan Kugler walked all five times she came to the plate.

The Mighty Macs (1-3) started the second game against Rose-Hulman hot as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Collevechio singled, and Bartow delivered a two-out double to score the first run. Kugler was then hit by a pitch, and
Caitlyn Hudock reached on an error that allowed Bartow to score.

Immaculata kept Rose-Hulman off the scoreboard until the fourth inning when the Fightin' Engineers started the inning with a single and double to push across their first run. Rose-Hulman then scored its second run on a sacrifice fly, and a Mighty Mac error scored the third run.

The Fightin' Engineers added three more runs in the fifth inning to lead, 6-2.

The Mighty Macs started their half of the fifth with a single from Collevechio, and like in the first inning, Bartow had a clutch RBI double to bring Collevechio home for Immaculata's third run.

Rose-Hulman had four runs in the seventh to finish the scoring.

Immaculata had eight hits in the game, and two hits each from Collevechio, Bartow and
Lauren Penn.

Caitlin Brasier started in the circle going four innings. She allowed seven hits, five runs, only four earned, and struck out two.
Jessica Bormann pitched the final three innings giving up five runs, one earned, on eight hits.

Immaculata finishes action on its spring trip tomorrow afternoon with games against Otterbein at 3 p.m. followed by Catholic at 5 p.m.
