Box Score ASTON, Pa.- The Immaculata men's basketball team struggled in their regular season finale at Neumann (18-7, 14-4 CSAC) on Saturday afternoon as they fell 86-52, but they will now shift their focus to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Quarterfinals which they enter as the number six seed and will travel to number three Cabrini on Monday night at 8 p.m.
The Mighty Macs finished the regular season at 10-15 overall and 9-9 in the CSAC.
IU had 13 different scorers as every player who played registered points, but nobody had more than seven points as freshman
Mike Piekarski led the way with seven points and six rebounds. Junior
Roy Ferrell Jr., freshman
James Willis (6-for-8 FT), and junior
Matt Simon each had six points. As a team, IU shot just 29.3% (17-for-58) from the field.
The Mighty Macs held temporary leads of 3-2, 5-4, and 7-5 after a lay-up by junior
Michael Sturdivant Jr., but that was their final lead two minutes into the game.
IU worked to stay in the game, keeping the Neumann advantage within striking distance at 24-19 with 8:47 to go in the first half, but the Knights went on a 9-2 run to get their lead to double digits at 33-21. A Ferrell Jr. lay-up cut the deficit to 10, but that was the closest IU would get the rest of the way.
Neumann took a 43-27 lead to the break.
The Knights would increase their lead in the second half, outscoring IU 43-25 after the break to put the game away.
