Volleyball Season Wraps Up In CSAC Quarterfinals

Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata, which was the sixth seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament, had its season ended by a 3-0 loss at third-seeded Neumann Tuesday night in the quarterfinal round. The host Knights won the match winning three highly competitive sets, 27-25, 25-23 and 25-22.

Second Team All-CSAC selection Arden Vizzard led the Mighty Macs in both kills (18) and digs (22), while having two assists and one service ace. Gabrielle Guerrera also recorded a double-double for Immaculata with 10 kills and 13 digs. Olivia Zdradzinski had a double-double with 28 assists and 16 digs, while adding four kills. Tess Kieffer, playing in her final match, had three kills. Molly Truitt had 13 digs in her final match as a Mighty Mac.

All three sets went back and forth between the two squads. In the first set, Immaculata got a block from Kieffer and kills from Vizzard and Zdradzinski to turn a two-point deficit into a 20-19 lead. Following three ties, the Knights reached set-point, but two kills by Vizzard evened the set at 24-all. Immaculata again got a kill from Vizzard to pull to 25-25, but Neumann finished the first set off with two kills for the 27-25 win.

The Mighty Macs grabbed the lead at the start of the second set, and they went ahead by five points (12-7), forcing the Knights to call a timeout. Immaculata continued to hold the advantage but Neumann was closing in on the Mighty Macs, and the Knights eventually got to within one (17-16). Immaculata responded with a five-point run which featured three kills by Vizzard to extend its edge to 22-16. However, Neumann went on a 9-1 run to win the set, 25-23.

The third set was another see-saw as each team would hold a slight edge to only see the other squad come back. Immaculata's last lead was at the 18-16 mark, when Neumann put together four points to retake a 20-18 lead. The Mighty Macs came back and tied the set at 20-all, and they had an answer for the Knights during the next four points as the set was again knotted at 22-22. However, Immaculata's luck ran out as Neumann won the final three points for the match.

Immaculata ends its season with a 9-16 overall record. Neumann (18-16) advances to the CSAC semifinals and travels to second-seeded Keystone on Thursday night.
