IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team claimed their fifth straight victory on a rainy Saturday afternoon at the IU Tennis Courts as they topped Cabrini (6-6, 5-3 CSAC) by a score of 5-0 in a match shortened by rain. The Macs (10-4, 6-2 CSAC) also celebrated Senior Day on Saturday for
Annaliese Kambouroglos,
Lauren Degnan,
Claire Stimson, and
Kelly Gross who are in their last seasons on the squad.
With the win, the Mighty Macs took a control of third place in the CSAC with two conference matches remaining.
Degnan and Gross won 8-1 at first doubles, Kambouroglos and sophomore
Caitlin Savage won 8-0 at second doubles, and Stimson partnered with Callahan to win 8-1 at third to give IU a 3-0 lead after doubles.
Needing just two wins in singles to claim the match, the Macs got them from Gross and Callahan. Gross won 6-1, 6-0 in second singles and Callahan won 6-2, 6-0 in fourth singles.
The Macs were also leading in three other matches when the match was called.
IU will play their final non-conference and home match of the season on Wednesday against York.
