ALLENTOWN, Pa.-Â The Immaculata women's tennis team won their third straight match by a 9-0 score on Wednesday afternoon and fifth in their last six matches over Cedar Crest to move their record to 8-4 overall and 4-2 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.
The Macs took care of all three doubles, led by senior
Lauren Degnan and junior
Kelly Gross at first doubles by a score of 8-5. Â Senior
Annaliese Kambouroglos and sophomore
Caitlin Savage won 8-2 at second doubles, and freshman
Susan Callahan and sophomore
Claire Stimson won 8-1 at third doubles.
In singles, Gross had a tough battle at second singles, but was able to prevail when she came back to win the second set and third set tiebreak, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6. Â The other five wins for IU were in straight sets as Degnan won 6-3, 6-2 in first singles, and Kambouroglos won 6-2, 6-1 in third singles.
Callahan had a good battle at fourth singles and won 6-3, 6-3 while Savage cruised 6-1, 6-0 at fifth singles, and freshman
Timesha Smith claimed victory at the sixth position.
The Mighty Macs will continue their busy week this Friday when they host Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m.
