PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Third-seeded Immaculata women's tennis had its 2016 season come to a close Friday afternoon in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship semifinal round with a 5-2 loss to second-seeded Marywood at Legacy Youth Tennis and Education.
 
The Mighty Macs won the first doubles match to finish as their top team of Lauren Degnan and Kelly Gross defeated Abygail Doud and Kristen Lambert, 8-2. The Pacers picked up wins at both second and third doubled, 8-4 and 8-5, respectively.
 
Marywood got ahead 4-1 early with wins at fifth and sixth singles. Immaculata rallied for its second point as Gross brought home a 7-6 (7-0), 6-0 win at second singles against Danielle Ogonowski. Immaculata and Marywood battled it out at first, third and fourth singles, with first and fourth singles going into a third set. The Pacers were able to clinch the match with a tough 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win at third singles against Annaliese Kambouroglos.
 
Degnan's match at first singles was unfinished with her leading Doud, 6-0, 6-7 (2-7), 1-0. Susan Callahan was also ahead on her opponent, Lambert, at fourth singles, 4-6, 6-1, 2-1, when the match was stopped.
 
Immaculata finishes the year 12-6 overall and went 8-2 in CSAC play.
