ASTON, Pa.- For the fourth straight season, the Immaculata women's tennis team (11-5, 7-2 CSAC) is heading to the CSAC postseason as they clinched their spot with a 9-0 victory over Neumann (4-8, 4-5 CSAC) on Friday afternoon. IU will play their final match of the 2016 regular season tomorrow afternoon at Rosemont.
The Macs are now locked into the third position for the CSAC Semifinals next weekend, and they will play No. 2 Marywood in a rematch of last year's CSAC Semifinal when the Pacers topped the Mighty Macs, 5-4.
IU took care of business this afternoon with three 8-1 victories at doubles. Senior
Lauren Degnan and junior
Kelly Gross won at the first position, senior
Annaliese Kambouroglos and sophomore
Caitlin Savage at the second position, and freshman
Susan Callahan and sophomore
Claire Stimson at the third position all won by the exact same score.
In singles, the Mighty Macs lost only eight games while winning in straight sets. Degnan won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, while Savage also had a shutout with an 8-0 victory at fifth singles.
Gross won 6-2, 6-3 at second singles, and Kambouroglos and Callahan won 6-1, 6-0 at third and fourth singles, respectively.
Freshman
Timesha Smith won 8-1 at the sixth singles spot.
