Box Score ROSEMONT, Pa. - Immaculata men's basketball was looking to put together back-to-back Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) wins when it headed to Rosemont Wednesday night, but the hole the Mighty Macs dug themselves into during the first half was too much as they fell to the Ravens, 92-80.
After Rosemont (7-9, 5-4 CSAC) held a 47-29 lead at halftime, Immaculata (6-10, 5-4 CSAC) outscored the hosts during the second half, 51-45, led by 18 of 33 (54.55%) from the field.
Roy Ferrell Jr. was the Macs leading scorer with 19 points (7-for-15 FG) and had four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Matt Simon added 12 points after going 4 of 7 from 3-point range.
Michael Sturdivant Jr. chipped in eight points and three assists.
Mike Piekarski scored nine points and had a team-best 10 rebounds to go along with five steals.
Tony Calamaro finished with seven points and six boards.
The Ravens scored the first 10 points of the game before the Mighty Macs answered at the 16:29 mark with a layup from Ferrell Jr. Rosemont had taken an 18-point (29-11) lead with 8:09 to play in the first half before Immaculata put together a spurt.
The Mighty Macs ended a four-minute scoreless stretch with a Piekarski layup at the 7:44 mark to open a 14-5 run for the guests. Immaculata had a single-digit deficit by the end of the run as it only trailed Rosemont, 34-25, with 3:53 to play in the half.
Rosemont would go up again by 18 as the Ravens outscored the Macs, 13-4, over the rest of the half for a 47-29 halftime lead.
The Mighty Macs started the second half much hotter than the first as they quickly got back within nine of the Ravens (50-41) just 3:30 into the half off a 12-3 spurt. Ferrell Jr. chipped in 10 of his 19 points during this run.
However, Rosemont later took its largest lead of the contest (75-54) with 7:40 to play. Immaculata responded to the Ravens advantage with a 13-0 run, that included a 7 of 8 performance from the free throw line, quickly trimming that lead to eight (75-67).
The closest the Macs would get was within seven (78-71) with 3:38 left in the game. The Ravens iced the game as they went 10-for-11 at the foul line the rest of the way.
Immaculata returns home for a meeting with Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday at 3 p.m.
