BOX SCOREIMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team won their fourth straight match and fifth out of six to start the young season with a 9-0 victory over visiting Cedar Crest (2-4, 1-3 CSAC) on Friday afternoon at the IU Tennis Courts. The Macs moved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) with the win.
Immaculata continued their strong play in doubles as they easily swept them to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Junior
Lauren Degnan and sophomore
Kelly Gross are now a perfect 6-0 as a doubles pairing in the first position with an 8-3 triumph, and junior
Jenna Fratterelli and freshman
Caitlin Savage are 4-0 as a pairing in the third spot with an 8-4 win. Senior
Kara Trowbridge and junior
Annaliese Kambouroglos won in the second spot, 8-1, to improve their mark to 4-2.
In singles, the Macs lost just 10 games total in the six matches to lock up the conference win. Kambouroglos in the fourth spot and Gross in the sixth position each had clean sweeps with 6-0, 6-0 wins. Junior
Nicole Burley and Trowbridge each won 6-1, 6-1 in the second and third spots, respectively. Degnan defeated her opponent in the top spot 6-0, 6-2, and Fratterelli won 6-4, 6-0 in the fifth position. Trowbridge and Gross stayed unbeaten in singles with the victories.
The Mighty Macs will look to make it five straight victories when they host Neumann tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. at the IU Tennis Courts.
