Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata men's basketball set a program record with 14 made 3-point field goals but it was not enough to edge the host Mighty Macs past the visiting Arcadia Knights, 75-72, on Tuesday evening inside Alumnae Hall in non-conference action.

The Mighty Macs (2-5) posted two scorers with 20-plus points powered by their effort from beyond the arc. Both
Rodney Duncan and
Michael Griffin III tied the single-game mark for 3-pointers with six each as Duncan finished with 22 points and Griffin had a career-best 20.

Arcadia (8-2) had its largest lead of the contest (72-62) with 2:36 left in the game, when Immaculata battled back to cut its deficit to one (73-72) with 11 seconds remaining.
Roy Ferrell Jr. had a layup and Duncan hit a three to put the Mighty Macs within five (72-67) with 1:36 left. Following a technical foul against the Knights, Duncan sunk both free throw attempts as Immaculata trailed by just three, 72-69, with 52 seconds on the clock. Â

The Knights went to the line and were 1-for-2 to extend their lead to 73-69 when Griffin III connected on a huge 3-pointer that put the Mighty Macs down just one with 11 seconds. Arcadia went on to seal the game making both free throws with just over seven seconds left, and Immaculata were not able to get the trying three off before the buzzer.

Ferrell Jr. finished with 12 points, four rebounds and three steals, while
Ron Melton had 10 points and six boards.
Mike Piekarski led the squad on the glass with 14 rebounds.

Immaculata led the entire first half, and was up by as many as 11 on two occasions, the last with 4:53 to go as Ferrell Jr. put in a layup. The Mighty Macs settled with a seven-point advantage at halftime, 36-29, as Duncan hit the second of his record three's with 12 ticks on the scoreboard.

Immaculata came out of the break and still had a seven-point lead (38-31) with 18:09 to play, but a cold spell during just over four minutes that saw the Mighty Macs only produce a three-ball from Duncan gave Arcadia its first advantage during the contest. The Knights outscored the Mighty Macs 12-3 during that span to lead 43-41 at the 13:49 mark.

Back-to-back three's by Griffin III and Duncan staked the Macs back in front, 47-43. Immaculata continued to hold the advantage until Arcadia put together a run just under the 10-minute mark. The Mighty Macs were ahead, 55-50, with 9:04 to play when the Knights spurted on a 17-4 that put the guests in front, 67-59, with 3:52 to go in the game.

The Knights built a 10-point advantage (72-62) with 2:36 remaining that the Mighty Macs were able to trim to one (73-72) with just 11 ticks left.

Immaculata had its best game of the season from both the field and the arc as the Mighty Macs shot 45.1 percent (23-51) from the field and connected on 14 of 27 (.519) from 3-point range.
