IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team defeated Cairn University on Saturday afternoon, 7-2, in their regular season finale to improve their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) record to 8-2, a program-best. They also won their 11
th match of the season which also equals a program record from last season.
With today's win, the Mighty Macs clinched the No. 2 seed in the conference postseason, their best-ever, and will face No. 3 Marywood on Friday in the CSAC Semifinals. The Mighty Macs defeated the Pacers, 7-2, yesterday afternoon.
In today's match, the Mighty Macs again used their strength in doubles to take a 3-0 advantage. Junior

Kara Trowbridge won their match in the second spot, 8-3, and freshman
Caitlin Savage and junior
Jenna Fratterelli won 8-4 in the third position. Junior
Lauren Degnan and sophomore
Kelly Gross won a tight back-and-forth 9-8 match in the first doubles position.
In singles, the back end of the lineup carried the Mighty Macs to the win. Gross polished off her undefeated CSAC season with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the sixth spot, and Kambouroglos won 6-1, 6-1 in the fourth position.
Fratterelli had two tough sets, but came out on top 7-5, 6-3 in the fifth spot, and Trowbridge bounced back from her first loss of the CSAC season yesterday with a 6-0, 6-3 win in the third spot.
Degnan had a battle against one of the top players in the CSAC as they went to a tiebreaker in the third set and fell 10-7.
The Mighty Macs will look forward to their third straight trip to the CSAC Semifinal on Friday against Marywood.
