Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University men's basketball team defeated Gwyendd Mercy University 89-81 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Saturday afternoon., Sophomore Roy Ferrell, Jr. recorded a career-high 21 points to help the Mighty Macs (7-5, 5-0 CSAC) stay unbeaten in the CSAC.

Freshman Joshua Smith registered a career-high 18 points, while junior Ron Melton added 19. Smith's career day saw him shoot 6-8 from the field, including 3-3 from beyond the arc and 3-3 from the foul line. Ferrell also enjoyed a good shooting day as he was 6-8 from the field, including 4-6 from three-point range. Senior Mamadou Diakite amassed his 11th career double-double with 10,points and 10 rebounds. Sophomores Mike Griffin and Matt Simon each tallied six points off the bench in the win for Imamculata.

The Mighty Macs held a 22-15 lead with 10:57 left in the opening stanza, but the Griffins (8-4, 3-2 CSAC) used a 9-1 run to grab a 24-23 lead with 8:46 left. Gwynedd Mercy held onto its advantage and led 46-40 at the half. Trailing 48-40 in the opening minutes of the second half, the Mighty Macs used a 14-6 run to tie the score at 54-54 off a lay-up by Melton at 15:11. The game went back and forth and Immaculata found themselves trailing 75-73 with 5:40 remaining, but Smith completed a four-point play to give the Mighty Macs a 77-75 lead at the 3:33 mark. It was a lead they never relinquished enroute to the 89-81 victory.

Arron Goodman posted a team-high 19 points for Gwynedd Mercy, while Justin Knight scored 17 in the loss.

Immaculata returns to action on Monday, January 12, when they travel to face Keystone College. Tip-off is set for 7pm.

NOTES: This is the first regular season win over the Griffins, since the 2009-10 season...the Mighty Macs defeated Gwynedd Mercy 66-60.
