Women's Tennis Clipped At Marywood, 5-4

SCRANTON, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team travelled to Marywood looking to move their record to 4-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play, but the Mighty Macs (5-2, 3-1 CSAC) came up just short in a 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Pacers (3-1, 2-1 CSAC).
 
In doubles, sophomore Annaliese Kambouroglos and senior Pattie McGinley remained undefeated in the third spot with a 9-7 victory, but that was the only point IU would earn in doubles.
 
In singles, junior Emily Degnan won handily in the second position 6-0, 6-2.  In the fifth spot, Kambouroglos made it a clean sweep on the day with a 6-2, 6-4 win in the fifth position.
 
In the first spot, sophomore Lauren Degnan won a tough three set battle with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 triumph to get the final Mighty Mac point of the day.
 
In what turned out to be the decisive point in the match, sophomore Nicole Burley fell in a tough three-set battle, 5-7, 6-4, 2-6 for the final point of the day for the Pacers.
 
The squad will travel to Penn State-Harrisburg on Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. start.
