Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa. – Led by double-digit kills from
Jamie Rombach and
Stephanie Johler, Immaculata University's volleyball team was able to defeat visiting Arcadia University, 3-1, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. The Mighty Macs won the match with scores of 25-22, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-19.

Rombach had a team-best 13 kills while Johler posted 10 kills and eight total blocks for the Mighty Macs.
Tess Kieffer added six kills and five block assists, and
Arden Vizzard registered six kills and a team-high 19 digs.

Immaculata has started the 2014 season with a perfect 7-0 record, and the Mighty Macs are off to their best start since 1992 when they joined the former Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, now the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Â Arcadia drops to 5-2 with today's loss.

Immaculata got off to a slow start in the match as Arcadia won the first five points and forced Immaculata to call a timeout. The Mighty Macs were finally able to tie the set at 9-9, which included a five-point run. It marked the first of six tied scores in the opening set.

After a 12-all tie, the Mighty Macs would be forced to play catch-up with the Knights until they were able to tie the score for the final time at 22-22.
Molly Truitt sandwiched two service aces around an attack error by the Knights to close out the first set, 25-22.

Arcadia actually led for most of the second set, holding its largest lead early (10-6). Immaculata evened the score at 16-16, but was unable to take the lead as Arcadia scored the next three points for the 19-16 edge. However, the Mighty Macs won four of the next five points to knot the set once again (20-20).

The set was again tied at 21-all when three kills by the Mighty Macs, Rombach, Johler and Kieffer, set up game-point at 24-21. After two points by the Knights, Johler put the set away with a kill at 25-23.

Arcadia led the whole way through the third set. With the score 22-11 in favor of the Knights, the Mighty Macs staged a comeback. Immaculata won 11 of 12 points to come within just one point (23-22) of Arcadia. Rombach added three kills to the Mighty Macs run.

The final set was the complete opposite of the third as the Mighty Macs led from the get-go. After Arcadia tied the set at 6-6, Immaculata opened it up at 15-7 and the Knights never recovered. Arcadia made a late push to get within five points (22-17), but two kills from
Gabrielle Guerrera and one by Rombach won the match.

Maranda Jones tallied 21 assists and 11 digs. Guerrera posted four total blocks (two solo, two assisted).
Emily Swank made 18 digs, and Truitt had 15.
Brittany Thompson finished with nine assists and 10 digs.

Immaculata will be on the road of its next three matches beginning with a mid-week date at Delaware Valley on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.
