Box Score 3 ABINGTON, Pa. – Immaculata volleyball ushered in the 2014 season on Saturday afternoon winning all three matches that it played. The Mighty Macs played three non-conference matches on opening day defeating Cairn, 3-1, Penn State Abington, 3-0, and Notre Dame, 3-0.

Immaculata (3-0) lost the opening set of the day to Cairn but was able to come back and win the next three sets for the victory.

Junior
Jamie Rombach accumulated a team-high eight kills while sophomore
Tess Kieffer recorded six kills. Freshman
Arden Vizzard debuted with five kills, 10 digs, two blocks and one service ace. Sophomore
Maranda Jones had 14 assists, and senior
Brittany Thompson finished with 13 assists. Sophomore
Molly Truitt made a team-leading 20 digs.

The Mighty Macs swept the host Nittany Lions in the middle match of the day. Rombach posted seven kills, two blocks and one service ace, and Vizzard also had a team-leading seven kills and one block. Jones dished up 19 assists and Thompson had nine assists and two aces. Truitt was tested for just six digs.

In the sweep against Notre Dame, Rombach and Vizzard again led the squad with nine kills apiece. Vizzard also added seven digs. Freshman
Emily Swank made 12 digs while Truitt had 11 digs. Jones again recorded 19 assists and Thompson added 11 assists.

Immaculata opens the home slate on September 3 hosting Misericordia for a 7 p.m. match.
