BOX SCOREROSEMONT, Pa.- Starting their 2014 campaign with a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match up, the Immaculata women's tennis team had a strong showing with an 8-1 victory over Rosemont (0-1, 0-1 CSAC). The Mighty Macs (1-0, 1-0 CSAC) swept their doubles' matches before claiming five of the six singles contests.
In doubles, junior
Emily Degnan and sophomore
Lauren Degnan won in first doubles 8-4, and sophomore
Nicole Burley and junior
Kara Trowbridge cruised to the 8-2 win. Junior
Pattie McGinley and sophomore
Annaliese Kambouroglos won by default in the third doubles to put the Mighty Macs out to a 3-0 lead.
In singles play, four Mighty Macs won in straight sets while freshman
Jenna Fratterelli won by default at the sixth spot. Kambouroglos won in the fifth spot in straight sets without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0.
In first singles,
Lauren Degnan won 6-3, 6-1 and Burley won by the same count in the third singles slot. In the fourth spot, Trowbridge cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win to help lift the Mighty Macs over the Ravens.
Immaculata will now go back into non-conference play when they travel to Rutgers-Camden next Thursday for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
