Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. – Third-seeded Immaculata University began the day at the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Softball Tournament with a 14-0 loss against second-seed Neumann University.
The Knights scored in each of the first three innings to grab the lead early. Danielle Grayson scored all three Neumann runs in the first inning with her three-run home run to left field. Neumann added five runs in the second, including a Grayson two-run homer.
Neumann capped its scoring with a six-run third inning.
Immaculata looked to score in the second inning as walks by
Liz Biddle and
Danielle Palmisano had two runners on base with only one out. However, the Mighty Macs were not able to score.
The Mighty Macs threatened again in the third as
Rachel Kelly had a one-out double to center field. Then with two outs,
Meghan Kugler reached on a fielder's choice to put runners at the corners.
Kelly had Immaculata's only hit as Neumann's Lauren Wilkie tossed a five-inning one-hitter with three walks.
Palmisano started in the circle for the Mighty Macs and lasted two innings. She gave up eight runs, four earned, on seven hits. She struck out one and walked three.
Samantha Strickland pitched the last two innings allowing six runs, five earned, on five hits.
Immaculata will play the loser of the Marywood-Cabrini game at 2 p.m. in an elimination game.
