IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's basketball team looked to win their third consecutive contest on Monday night at Alumnae Hall, but Gwynedd Mercy (16-5, 12-2 CSAC) took control of the game by leading 43-25 at the break and never looked back on their way to a 74-53 CSAC victory. Junior

Gwynedd Mercy started the game on an 11-4 run, but IU bounced back quickly with an 8-1 spurt of their own. Sophomore

Roy Ferrell Jr. all poured in baskets to contribute to the run. The game remained tied at 14-14, but that would be the closest Immaculata would get as Gwynedd would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.
The Griffins led 17-16 with 9:22 to go in the first half after a lay-up by Smith, but Gwynedd Mercy then went on a 24-5 run over the next nine minutes to take a commanding 41-21 lead. Peeples hit a jumper falling away in the right corner to send the teams to locker room with the Mighty Macs trailing 43-25.
Twice the Mighty Macs got the Gwynedd advantage down to 15 points early in the second half, both on lay-ups by Diakite, but Gwynedd responded to stay in control.
The Griffins finished off the 74-53 victory. These two teams will meet again next Wednesday at Gwynedd Mercy.
Immaculata will look to rebound on Wednesday night when they host Neumann at 8 p.m. at Alumnae Hall.
