Mamadou Diakite continued his recent string of outstanding play with 21 points and eight rebounds (both team-highs) on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 9-of-16 from the free throw stripe. Sophomore

Â
Arcadia controlled much of the first half as they never saw their lead go below four points beyond the 13:16 mark of the first half. Their advantage was as large as 16 at 39-23, but the Mighty Macs closed the half on a mini 7-2 spurt to make it 41-30 at the break.
Â
In the second half, the Mighty Macs battled hard to get back into the game. After the Knights swelled their lead to 48-35 with 16:48 to go in the game, the Mighty Macs ripped off a 12-0 run to make it a one-point game with plenty of time remaining. A breakaway layup by junior
Rodney Duncan (six points) followed by an offensive rebound put back by sophomore
Matt Simon (five points) made it 48-39 and IU wasn't done there.
Â
Diakite scored the next six points including a traditional three-point play before junior
Ron Melton scored on an offensive rebound to make it 48-47 with 12:25 to go as the Mighty Macs had held Arcadia scoreless for four minutes.
Â
Unfortunately, the Knights responded with an 11-0 spurt of their own over the next three minutes to make it 59-47 with 9:03 to go. The Mighty Macs would get as close as seven points at 64-57 with 5:12 to go, but Arcadia would put it away by going to the line 33 times in the game for the 84-69 win.

Immaculata will stay in non-conference play with their last game before the holiday break on Thursday against Alvernia at 7 p.m. at Alumnae Hall.
