ASTON, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team clinched their second consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoff berth with a 5-4 victory over Neumann in their final regular season match of the season. The Mighty Macs (11-6, 7-3 CSAC) will enter the CSAC postseason as the fourth seed for the second straight season and they will know their opponent later today.
Immaculata got off to a slow start, claiming only one of the three doubles. Sophomore
Annaliese Kambouroglos and senior
Pattie McGinley won in the third spot 8-2 for the lone IU point in doubles.
In singles, the Mighty Macs stormed back with four victories in the six matches. Sophomore
Jenna Fratterelli won by default in the sixth spot for the first point. The final three victories were in straight sets for the crucial victory to send the Mighty Macs back to the postseason.
Sophomore
Lauren Degnan won 6-3, 6-4 in first singles, and her sister, junior
Emily Degnan, won 6-0, 6-2 in the second spot.
The final point was claimed by junior
Kara Trowbridge with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph in the fourth spot.
The Mighty Macs will play in the CSAC Semifinals on Friday, October 25
th at a time to be determined based on the opponent.
