Mighty Macs Drop Senior Day Match, 6-1

BOX SCORE

IMMACULATA, Pa.-
In the final home Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match in the careers of seniors Pattie McGinley, Paige Sparks, and Emily Degnan, Immaculata hosted Gwynedd Mercy (8-4, 6-1 CSAC) looking to clinch a CSAC playoff berth, but the Griffins bested the Mighty Macs (10-5, 6-3 CSAC) by a score of 6-1.

The Mighty Macs will now have to win their match on Saturday at Neumann at 1 p.m. to lock up a CSAC postseason spot for the second straight season in their final regular season match of the year.

The Griffins won the first and second doubles, but senior Pattie McGinley and sophomore Annaliese Kambouroglos rallied from a 7-6 deficit to come back and win third doubles by a score of 9-7 to get the Mighty Macs their only point of the day and push their record together to 11-1 this year.

In singles, the Griffins claimed four of the matches before darkness called the other two.  Kambouroglos was down one set and tied in the second in the fifth spot, and junior Kara Trowbridge was up one set at number four singles before darkness set in.

Immaculata will play their last non-conference match of the season Thursday against Ursinus at 3:30 p.m.
