Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's volleyball team fell in its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener Wednesday night to Cabrini College, 3-1. The Mighty Macs battled the Cavaliers the whole match but it was the visitors who came out with the win (26-28, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23).

Immaculata falls to 10-5 overall and 0-1 in CSAC play. Cabrini improved to 12-5, 3-0 CSAC.

Jamie Rombach added a team-high 14 kills and three service aces.
Emily Swank also finished with double-figure kills (10) and recorded a double-double with 12 digs.
Stephanie Johler posted seven kills and three blocks, while
Gabrielle Guerrera made six kills and six total blocks, including four solo blocks.
Marissa Casella made three blocks, and
Rachael Rockefeller had two.

Brittany Thompson set up the Mighty Macs' offense with 18 assists, while
Maranda Jones had 15 assists and 11 digs.
Molly Truitt made 11 digs, six assists and three service aces.

The two squads battled back-and-forth the whole match. The first set, which the Mighty Macs eventually came out as 28-26 winners, had 12 ties and five lead changes. Immaculata trailed Cabrini by five points early (10-5) when it went on a five-point run to tie the set at 10-all. From that point, it was neck-and-neck the rest of the way with neither team taking more than a three point swing.

The Mighty Macs were able to keep the Cavaliers from set point at 24-23 with a block by Johler and Casella. Cabrini again had set point (26-25), but Immaculata was able to force three Cavalier errors to take the opener.

Cabrini controlled the second set leading by seven points for most of the way.

Immaculata rallied back in the third and fourth sets. The third set had four lead changes and seven ties while the fourth set featured nine ties and five lead changes.

The third set was tied at 16-16 when Cabrini put together four-straight points to grab the lead. Even though the Mighty Macs got within one (23-22), the Cavaliers closed it out with straight kills from Amy Guarino.

After trailing 4-3 in the fourth set, a kill from Casella and two consecutive service aces by Rombach handed the Mighty Macs a 6-4 edge. Immaculata's lead would grow to six points (11-5) forcing a Cabrini timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Cavaliers won eight of the next 10 points to eventually tie the set at 13-13. The Mighty Macs retook the lead, which they would not relinquish until the Cavaliers tied the score at 19-19 and then went ahead (20-19). Immaculata actually was ahead (23-22) after Rombach's 14th kill of the match, but Cabrini scored the final three points for the win.
