Mighty Macs Slowed By Cabrini, 84-62

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata men's basketball hosted Cabrini in their third straight home game on Monday night and the Cavaliers (12-0, 6-0 CSAC) led wire-to-wire in an 84-62 conference victory.  The Mighty Macs held Cabrini to 36.8% from the field, but Cabrini went 35-for-47 from the line to take control of the contest.  Junior Barry Brockington led Immaculata in scoring with 14 points while junior Jose Ortiz added 12.
 
Immaculata took an early lead with a basket by junior Mamadou Diakite (7 points), but the Cavaliers scored the next eight points behind Fran Rafferty (31 points) and Aaron Walton-Moss (26 points).  The Mighty Macs battled right back with a 7-1 spurt capped by a three from freshman Julian Diaz to tie the score at 9-9.
 
The Cavaliers again went on a run with nine consecutive points to take an 18-9 lead.  The Mighty Macs cut it to five on a jumper by Roy Ferrell Jr., but Cabrini would get their advantage as high as 16 points and take a 40-25 lead into the locker room.
 
Cabrini continued to keep the pressure on in getting their lead as large as 24 in the second half on their way to an 84-62 victory.
 
Immaculata held a 42-40 advantage on the backboards and shot 19-for-24 at the line.
 
The Mighty Macs will look to snap their two-game skid on Saturday with the final game of their home stand against Centenary at 1 p.m.
