IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University volleyball opened up the home slate Thursday night sweeping Albright College, 3-0, in a non-conference match. The Mighty Macs took the match by set scores of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-18.

Sophomore
Jamie Rombach led the Mighty Macs with 12 kills and 11 digs for a double-double effort. Junior
Andrea Okoro finished the eight kills and senior
Allison Lang added six smack downs to the effort. Junior
Brittany Thompson recorded 20 assists, while freshman
Maranda Jones chipped in eight helpers. Sophomore
Stephanie Johler served up a team-high six aces against Albright while adding five kills and seven digs. Freshman
Molly Truitt had a team-leading 13 digs during the evening.

The Mighty Macs (2-4) led throughout the first set, but the Lions (2-7) made a run to cut the score to one point late in the game. Immaculata held a lead no larger than four points until Okoro's kill put the Mighty Macs ahead, 20-15.

Immaculata still retained its four-point edge (24-20) and appeared to be ready to close out the opening set when Albright made a last-chance effort to hold the Mighty Macs off. The Lions used kills from Christa Mantz and Jordan Gibson along with an Immaculata hitting error to trim the Mighty Macs lead to 24-23. Following an Immaculata timeout, sophomore
Brittany Holland sealed the set with a kill from Jones.

After going ahead 4-1 to start the second set, Albright scored eight of the next nine points to turn its deficit into a four-point lead, 9-5. Trailing 11-7, Immaculata then won eight of the next nine points, including six straight, to quickly turn its deficit into a three-point edge, 15-12.

Albright later tied the second set at 16-all, but the Mighty Macs responded with five-consecutive points, and cruised to the win.

Immaculata got ahead by an 8-2 margin in the third set and held a comfortable lead to close out the set and match, 25-18.

Immaculata heads to Rowan on Saturday for a tri-match with the host Profs and Washington College. The first match gets underway at 11 a.m.
