Mighty Macs Drop First Tournament Game To Keystone, 4-1

ASTON, Pa.
– The second-seeded Immaculata University's softball team dropped its first game of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament to sixth-seeded Keystone College, 4-1, in eight innings Friday morning.
 
After getting the first Keystone hitter of the eighth to fly out, the Giants loaded the bases with three-straight hits through the left side. Sara Schraden then singled to right field to score two runs, and give Keystone its first lead of the game, 3-1. Samantha Hartman then singled to left field as the Giants final run of the game crossed the plate.
 
Immaculata (22-17) broke a scoreless game in the bottom of the fifth as Melissa Ejk doubled to score Allison Zborowski, who had come in to pinch run.
 
Keystone (23-19) tied the game at 1-1 with one run in the top half of the sixth.
 
Immaculata pitcher Meagan Fitzgerald had a no-hitter through 5.1 innings. She was tagged with the loss giving up four runs on six hits. She struck out eight Keystone batters and walked two.
 
The Mighty Macs scattered five hits during the game, led by Jenny Barnholt's 2-for-3 morning. Holly Schell, Ejk and Danielle Palmisano all had one hit apiece.
 
Immaculata plays the loser of the No. 1 Neumann vs. No. 4 Gwynedd-Mercy game at 2 p.m. this afternoon at Neumann's Bruder Field.
