IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata softball kept its unblemished Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) record intact and improved to 9-0 with its sweep against Cabrini College on Friday afternoon. It only took the Mighty Macs five innings to win the opener, 8-0, and the hosts closed out the day with a 10-5 win in the nightcap.

Meagan Fitzgerald (9-4) allowed just three Cabrini hits in the opener as she pitched a complete-game shutout. Fitzgerald struck out two and walked two.
The Mighty Macs (12-9, 9-0 CSAC) posted three runs in the second inning, two in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
Immaculata's three runs in the second came on three hits and one Cabrini error.
Danielle Palmisano led off the inning with a double, and
Samantha Strickland then reached on the Cavaliers' error.
Caitlyn Hudock had a RBI single, followed by a walk to
Jessica DeCastro to load the bases for the Mighty Macs.
Kenzie Brown then hit a sacrifice fly to score Strickland, and
Jenny Barnholt's RBI single pushed the final run across the plate for Immaculata in the inning.
Immaculata's two runs in the fourth came off a double by
Holly Schell that scored Decastro and Brown.
The Mighty Macs closed the door in the fifth with their first two hitters,
Melissa Ejk and Palmisano, getting on base through a single and walk, respectively. Hudock doubled to left field to score Ejk, and with two out, Brown doubled into the left centerfield gap brining Palmisano and Hudock around to score.
Brown finished 2-for-2 with three RBI to lead the Mighty Macs. Hudock also collected two hits and had two RBI. Shell had one hit and two RBI, while
Jenny Barnholt finished with one hit and one RBI.
In the second game, Immaculata plated four runs in the fourth to take a 7-4 lead, and continued to add to its advantage during the next two innings. Six of Immaculata's runs during the final three innings came courtesy of the long ball.
Cabrini (8-9, 7-4 CSAC) scored three runs in the top half of the fourth to take a 4-3 lead, but that would be short-lived as Immaculata posted a four-run bottom half of the inning.
After DeCastro and
Allison Zborowski walked, Barnholt had a single to right field to score DeCastro from second. Next up,
Patsy Murphy hit a three-run homerun to hand the Mighty Macs the lead for good.
Immaculata added two more runs in the fifth on a two-run homer from
Brittany Merkle that cleared the center field fence, and
Christiana Donofry had a solo shot in the sixth to cap the scoring.
The Mighty Macs began the game scoring three runs in the first to hold a 3-1 advantage. Donofry and Merkle recorded the only hits of the inning for the Mighty Macs as two Cabrini errors led to the three runs.
Schell, Donofry and Merkle all had two hits each, while Merkle had two RBI and Murphy had three RBI.
Nicole Curcione (3-4) pitched seven innings in the circle giving up five runs on 15 hits. She also struck out six Cabrini hitters.
Immaculata heads to Marywood tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
