Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

ASTON, Pa.
Holly Schell went 5-for-8 with a pair of runs scored and three RBI in the doubleheader, however, it was not enough as host Neumann swept a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) softball twinbill from visiting Immaculata Monday afternoon.

Immaculata (19-15, 16-4 CSAC) had an opportunity to grab a share of first place from the Knights (24-12, 20-0), but Neumann remained undefeated in CSAC play with the two-game sweep.

Schell was 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI in a 10-9 setback in 10 innings in the opener. Immaculata dropped the nightcap, 8-0, in six innings. The Mighty Macs scored one run in the top of the 10th in game one to take a 9-8 lead. However, Neumann plated a pair of runs in their half of the frame to pick up the win.

Caitlyn Hudock doubled home Brittany Merkle, who was placed on second base to start the 10th per international tie-breaking rules, to start the inning. The Mighty Macs would eventually load the bases, but could not push another run across.

Callie Ernel was placed on second for Neumann to start the bottom of the 10th. Megan Williams tripled her home, and Mariah Ripken hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Williams with the winning run.

Jenny Barnholt was also 5-for-8 during the doubleheader, and had three hits during the opener. Christiana Donofry was 2-for-4 with two RBI during game one.

The Mighty Macs scored two runs during their first at-bat. Schell led off the game with a single, then with one out, Immaculata sandwiched singles by Danielle Palmisano and Brittany Merkle around a double from Samantha Strickland.

Neumann then struck for three runs in the second and five runs in the third to take a commanding 8-2 lead. However, Immaculata chipped away with two runs in the fourth inning before plating four runs in the sixth.

Again with one out in the inning, Immaculata put together three straight singles by Barnholt, Donofry and Schell to score Kenzie Brown and Barnholt.

Immaculata had its big four-run inning to tie the game at 8-8 in the sixth. The first four hitters for the Mighty Macs all reached base as Nicole Curcione and Barnholt both hit a singles, and Donofry and Schell followed up with doubles to score the first three runs. Schell then crossed the plate as Palmisano drove her in off a sacrifice fly.

Meagan Fitzgerald took the loss in the circle during game one as she allowed 10 runs, nine earned, on 10 hits. She walked four and struck out three during 9.1 innings.

Immaculata plays its final non-conference doubleheader of the season tomorrow afternoon as it hosts Swarthmore at 3 p.m.
