Softball Falls To Capital

CLERMONT, Fla.
– The Immaculata softball team started its morning with a loss to Capital, 14-0, in five innings before having the weather cause havoc and postpone its scheduled game against Wilmington.
 
Against Capital, the Bulldogs pushed two runs across the plate in the top of the first inning as they put together four hits. Capital also had four-run innings in the second, third and fifth to take the 14-0 win.
 
Immaculata got its first hit of the game in the bottom of the third inning as Patsy Murphy singled down the left-field line. Jenny Barnholt got on base on a field choice as Murphy was tagged out at second, and Allison Zborowski walked to put two runners on for the Mighty Macs. However, after advancing the runners to second and third, both were left stranded.
 
The Mighty Macs also got two runners aboard in the bottom of the fifth as Kenzie Brown had an infield single and Caitlyn Hudock walked, but both runners were left standing.
 
Meagan Fitzgerald started the game and lasted four innings, allowing 12 hits for 10 runs, nine of those were earned. Nicole Curcione pitched the final inning giving up four runs, three earned, on three hits.
 
The Mighty Macs (1-2) begin their final day of action at the NTC Spring Games at 10 a.m. on Wednesday against Augustana, and wrap up their spring trip with Hanover at noon.
