IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team (8-7, 6-2 CSAC) took a big step toward solidifying one of the four playoff positions on Monday afternoon as they defeated Neumann (7-8, 4-4 CSAC) by a score of 6-3. The Mighty Macs won two doubles matches and four singles matches to claim the victory.
In doubles, senior
Theresa Martini and sophomore
Kara Trowbridge won in the second position 8-6, while the team's best pairing of freshman
Annaliese Kambouroglos and junior
Pattie McGinley won for the eighth time in nine matches by a score of 8-4 in the third spot.
The Mighty Macs continued to play well in the singles as freshman
Nicole Burley won a third set tie breaker 10-4 in the second spot. Freshman
Jenna Fratterelli also won in the third set in the sixth spot for another hard-earned point.
Trowbridge won 6-4, 6-3 in her first match back in over a week in the third position, while senior
Julie Einwechter won 6-4, 6-1 in the fifth spot.
The Mighty Macs will continue their march toward the playoffs when they host Marywood on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
