Marywood Deals Immaculata First CSAC Defeat

, Pa. - The Immaculata men's basketball team (4-7, 3-1) suffered their first CSAC loss of the season on the road at Marywood (3-10, 2-4) by a score of 75-47.  The Mighty Macs had won their first three CSAC games prior to tonight's defeat at the hand of the Pacers.
 
Junior Brandon Smith led the way for the second straight game for the Mighty Macs with 17 points and five rebounds, while senior Todd Stokley contributed eight points and three rebounds.
 
Immaculata played its best early when they jumped out to a 6-1 advantage on the strength of three straight buckets from Smith.  Marywood then responded with an 8-0 run, led by Ryan Corrigan (game-high 21 points) to take the lead themselves.
 
Senior T.J. Klinger (five points, four steals) then nailed a triple to tie the game at 9-9.  After Marywood again jumped in front, Smith delivered a traditional three-point play to give a 12-11 lead back to the Mighty Macs as the junior had nine early points.  However, Marywood's Matt Tintle (18 points) came down and hit a jumper to give the Pacers a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.
 
The Pacers went on a 10-2 run to take a 7-point advantage midway through the first half at 21-14.  Stokley hit a lay-up to trim the advantage back to five, but four minutes later the lead was back to ten as Marywood continued to carry the advantage into the break.  The Pacers held a 39-25 lead at the half.
 
In the second half, the Mighty Macs were unable to get closer than 14 as Marywood kept Immaculata at arms' length the rest of the game on their way to a 75-47 CSAC victory.
 
Newcomer Rodney Duncan notched 6 points in the second game of his Immaculata career.
 
Immaculata will look to return to their winning ways in conference when Baptist Bible visits Alumnae Hall at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
 
NOTES: Immaculta moves to 12-3 in school history against Marywood…Brandon Smith moved into 9th all-time on the field goals made list with 177 as he passed Sean Fordham (2005-09)…Smith also moved into 8th all-time in rebounds with 290.
