IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University dropped a non-conference women's tennis match to Penn State Berks, 7-2, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mighty Macs' second doubles tandem of
Kara Trowbridge and
Paige Sparks earned one of the points during the match as they defeated Liz Martinez and Gloria Kim, 8-5.
Ally Minton won the other point at sixth singles by downing Ruth Fortuna, 6-2, 7-5.
Immaculata (1-6) put up a strong effort in doubles. The top doubles team of
Emily Degnan and
Theresa Martini fell 8-6, while the third doubles pair
Julie Einwechter and
Olivia Kauffman were defeated 8-4.
Trowbridge almost pulled out the singles win against Kristina Hatter. Trowbridge won the opening set, 6-3, but Hatter evened the match by winning 6-3 in the second. Hatter then won the tie-breaker, 10-8.
Immaculata returns to league play on Friday afternoon hosting Cabrini at 3:30 p.m.
